Twitter Announces Built-In Photo Sharing, Promises Better Search Experience

Twitter’s CEO Dick Costolo took the stage at the D9 conference this morning to introduce a number of new tools and features. Among these are Twitter own photo sharing feature which will go live in a few weeks, the promise of a better search experience and an official Twitter Firefox extension. To power the photo sharing feature, Twitter has partnered with Photobucket.

Better Search That Surfaces More Relevant Tweets

twitter-photo-sharingOverall, though, while the photo sharing feature will likely get the most attention today, Twitter’s promise of a better search experience is actually the more interesting announcement. In its announcement today, Twitter states that this new search experience will “not only will it deliver more relevant tweets when you search for something or click on a trending topic, but it will also show you related photos and videos, right there on the results page.” To give this a try, log in to Twitter and start a search. You will now have the option to sort your results by relevancy.
